What is Personal Development Coaching?

Personal development coaching helps you reconnect with yourself, gain clarity, and take focused action to improve your wellbeing, your confidence, your relationships, and ultimately, your results.

What results can I expect?

Make no mistake there’s work involved. We work with you to set goals for the coaching. When you do the work, better relationships, improved health and wellbeing, greater confidence, and a stronger sense of joy and balance are all possible. Sound good?

How is coaching different from therapy?

Generally, Coaching focuses on where you are now, your desire for growth and achieving your future goals. We coach the whole person so challenges from the past certainly come up. We will gently hold the space for you, but coaching is not about healing past trauma. It’s possible, therapy or some form of specialized intervention is the right path for you, and we will guide you gently and compassionately, in service of you, to find a professional who can help.

How long does a personal coaching program last?

Programs are flexible, usually running for several sessions over weeks or months. We will co-create the plan and the schedule with you once we agree to work together. We always recommend a minimum of four sessions to start.

Can it help with work-life balance?

Yes, coaching helps you realign your priorities both at work and in your life and create healthy habits for balance and success.

What is Leadership Coaching?

Leadership is a practice not just a position. Our coaching focuses on helping current and emerging leaders identify and realign the leadership patterns and behaviours to lead, inspire, and coach others with clarity, consistency, and confidence.

How can leaders benefit from coaching?

The fact is it can be lonely at the top. Our Coaching provides a trusted, confidential space to think clearly, explore ideas and challenges, and grow as a leader.

Leadership challenges are generally related to projects, people, and patterns related but not limited to team management, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational alignment and change.

Is it based on research?

Yes. While our Coaching is focused on you as a human being, as a leader we integrate the evidence-based leadership practices with real-world experience to help you take your leadership to the next level.

What’s the format of sessions?

One-on-one, in-person or online sessions tailored to your leadership goals, your schedule and geographic location.

Can new leaders join too?

Absolutely — it’s designed for both emerging and experienced leaders. We also offer Group Leadership Coaching which can be a cost effective way to develop emerging leaders in your organization. 

What does T.E.A.M. stand for?

Trust, Explore, Adapt, and Move — the four pillars of our Effective Teamwork Pathway. Trust is foundational to all stakeholder relationships and critical for organizational success. When trust exists, teams and organizations are able to Explore possibilities openly, safely, and collaboratively, then teams are much better positioned to Adapt with resilience in times of challenge and change and more effectively Move and build Momentum towards their mission, vision, strategic goals and objectives with purpose, alignment and shared values.

Trust is the foundation of all successful, high performing teams and organizations. Trust builds safety, openness and alignment which drives collaboration, creativity, innovation and success.

What is the Relationship Intelligence Pathway?

If you don’t build relationships first, your partnerships are doomed. Our Relationship Intelligence pathway is how we focus on building and strengthening the foundation of trust. It’s a process using the SDI2.0® to help team members understand themselves and each other, navigate disagreement productively and ultimately communicate better. The research is clear; we achieve results through relationships (Scudder, T. 2021 “Working with the SDI2.0”)

What is the SDI2.0® Assessment?

We will introduce the SDI2.0® to you and to the team (if applicable) so everyone knows what to expect from the experience. If we are working with the team, an account is created within the Crucial Learning platform. This enables a “compare” feature and other team analytics which is a powerful ongoing team development resource that will be fully explored. After taking the SDI, each person will have a 1:1 debrief with the Whitehorse Coaching SDI2.0® coach/facilitator followed by a full team interactive debrief where we will fully explore the implications of the teams results and the incredible potential for improving team relationships, communication and more. Follow-up coaching will be recommended as part of the full Relationship Intelligence Pathway to make the learning stick. The cost of SDI2.0® assessment credits is included in the contracted services which will be fully itemized in our agreement.

How does the SDI2.0 process work?

Team members take the assessment, get debriefed individually and as a group.

What is the Working in Effective Teams Workshop?

A hands-on, interactive program we have conducted with over 300 individuals and teams that explores the research into what drives team effectiveness and actively builds the awareness and essential team skills  - communication, feedback, conflict, interpersonal and leadership.

How long is the workshop?

We work with you to adapt the series to your capacity. Options include a full-day retreat, two half-day sessions or as a multi-day lunch & Learn PD series. We can also adapt the experience to a 3-hour session. As with all our programs, we will work with you and do our best to design and deliver the best outcomes for you and your team.

What are the 5 key team skills?

Communication Skills, Feedback Skills, Conflict Management, Interpersonal Skills, and Leadership Skills.

What are Team Coaching Bursts?

Short, focused sessions designed to refresh learning and inspire collaboration. This is a great option for time-crunched teams, remote teams looking for a burst of connection, and short group or team Professional and personal Development coaching sessions

How does this help remote teams?

Remote teams benefit from intentionally designed, preferably in-person days for connection, team-building, learning, and business. We recommend planning at least one session per quarter. Our experience confirms how much remote employees benefit from the team burst experience and we design the day or half-day with you.

What are Norms of Collaboration?

“Norms of Collaboration” are team behavioural expectations a team co-creates and agrees to that is aligned with company mission and values and strengthens trust and accountability. Other familiar frameworks include the Team Charter, Working Agreements, Designed Alliance etc.

Yes, every program is tailored to your personal, organizational and employee development goals. We work with leaders, teams and individuals within teams to address their unique needs and challenges.

What is a typical investment for personal and team coaching?

We have a menu of services that may be combined to meet the unique needs and outcomes you are engaging us to help you achieve. We offer a free Discovery session and will draft a proposal with full and transparent pricing and can discuss all the options to meet your budget. You can expect to invest $150-300 per hour, per-person depending on the services we agree will meet your goals.
